Helping keep the classroom vital and alive, grounded in the shifting complexities faced by managers around the world. Paul R. Lawrence Fellowships, granted by the CRF, enable doctoral students and early-career faculty members to attend the annual conference of the North American Case Research Association (NACRA) for specialized training in case research, writing and teaching.

Our 2021 Fellows
This year, we received 62 completed applications (31 doctoral students; 31 early-career faculty) from 18 countries. We were pleased to award 9 Paul R. Lawrence Fellowships in 2021. Meet our 2021 fellowship recipients here.
We hope to host an expanded group of Fellows, including those from the 2020 and 2021 cohorts, in person at the 2022 conference in in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Providing Support Online
This year, as in 2020, the work of the Case Research Foundation pivoted to an online platform because of the ongoing pandemic. At the annual NACRA conference, held remotely in October, the Fellows attended special training sessions, worked with senior mentors, and presented their cases and case proposals at roundtable sessions hosted by experienced case writers.
Adding value throughout the year
With NACRA and our institutional sponsors, the Case Research Foundation has worked to provide professional development opportunities to members and former fellows throughout the year—not just during the conference.

Financials
Fundraising
This year, our fundraising goal is again $25,000. Our expenses were lower than usual in 2020 and 2021 because we did not provide travel and lodging for our fellowship recipients, enabling us to run a surplus. However, we anticipate unusually high expenses in 2022 because we plan to invite members of the two COVID cohorts to our in-person conference if we are able to hold one in October.
Our Administrative Costs
Our board of directors, faculty mentors, and committee members volunteer their time. We receive in-kind donations from the North American Case Research Association and other friends. Our administrative costs support website development, fellowship marketing, and management of the selection process.
